with a broken swan neck pediment with turned ivory finial, the mercury tube flanked by a silvered register plates from 28" to 31" with a sliding vernier scale, signed ‘Ebsworth, 68 Fleet Street, London’, the oak and ebony strung trunk mounted with an ivory knob and an inset glazed mercury thermometer with silvered scale, terminating in a circular cistern cover
