Description
the 13 inch brass breakarch dial with silvered chapter ring, Roman numerals and Arabic five minute markers, subsidiary seconds and date dials, the centre with foliate engraving, pierced spandrels, the arch with a silvered signature plate signed ‘John Stewart, Edinburgh’ flanked by pierced dolphin appliques, the parquetry and marquetry inlaid mahogany case with a broken swan neck pediment centred by a ball and eagle finial, the dial flanked by free gilt metal mounted Corinthian columns, the sides with oval sound frets, the rectangular trunk door with moulded edge and inlaid with an urn roundel and scalloped angles, on a similarly inlaid square plinth base set on bracket feet, twin train weight driven movement striking a bell
