of lobed scalloped edged form, centrally painted with chrysanthemum and a branch with berries, the border with panels decorated with diaper designs, mons, flowers and prunus blossom, gilt edged rim, the reverse with three foliate branches, blue tramlines within the footrim

The 1756 Chelsea sale catalogue lists plates, dishes and compotiers in 'a rare old japan pattern blue and gold... scollop'd'. A saucer dish in this pattern marked with a gold anchor is in the British Museum and is illustrated by Ayers, Impey and Mallet, Porcelain for Palaces (1990), p.289.
