the 13 inch circular silvered dial with Roman numerals, subsidiary second and date dials, signed 'David McDonald, Edinburgh' to the centre, moon hands, the drumhead case surmounted by a moulded cresting and flanked by scroll appliques, the top of the trunk with engraved white metal presentation plaque dated 1847, the ogee trunk with a concave door flanked by moulded half columns on a panelled square plinth base with turned feet, twin train weight driven movement striking a bell
