the 14 inch cream enamel breakarch dial with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds and date dials, signed ‘Jas Murdoch, Newton Ayr’ to the centre, painted floral spandrels, the arch with a scene of a sea view of Ailsa Craig, the centre of the arch with a painted pendulum regulated bobbing automaton in the form of a three masted ship, the mahogany case with a broken swan neck pediment over a caddy top, the dial flanked by free turned columns, the rectangular trunk door flanked by fluted Doric quarter columns, on a square plinth base set on turned feet, twin train weight driven movement striking to a bell
