Description
worked in coloured silk in long and short, knotted, chain, and needlepoint filling stitches, with detached and raised details all on a cream satin ground; with chenille, purl, coiled paper, pearls and ribbon work, depicting a flanking pair of oval portraits of Mary, Princess of Orange, and Henrietta, Duchess of Orleans, both wearing seed pearl necklaces, within ribbon bordered canopies; and a smaller roundel portrait below of a young woman flanked by the initials I R, and marked at the corners with roundels containing alternately a stag, a unicorn, a lion, and a leopard, within a border of stylised flower motifs, the top section centred by a heraldic shield and laurel wreath
