the silvered dial with Roman numbers, the case surmounted by a fern and rosette cast drumhead, flanked by a pair of kneeing muses holding open books placed on cushions, the stepped plinth set with cast friezes of fruiting vines centred by a lion mask above and a horse mask flanked by cornucopia below, raised on cast paw feet, the twin train movement with silk suspension and outside count wheel, the backplate stamped ‘J B Dorval Paris’ and numbered 'L 527'
