Description
in the Louis XIV style, the circular gilt dial with raised enamel Roman numerals and Arabic minute markers to the outer rim, with a pierced sphinx and griffin applique below the dial with an enamel cartouche signed ‘Thuret, A Paris’, the arched rectangular case surmounted by a gilt seated figure of Salacia over the domed top and applied foliate mounts, the moulded glazed door flanked by scrolling appliques, the panels in premiere partie and contrepartie boulle, set on toupie feet, the twin train movement with outside countwheel and matching number pendulum; the bracket of inverted ogee form with an acanthus moulded edge, over corner mounts with female masks, the contrepartie boulle panels over the foliate moulded pendant (2)
