Description
the 11 inch brass dial with silvered chapter, Roman numerals and Arabic five minute markers, a subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture to the mask, signed 'Alex. Raitt, Dundee', the pierced spandrels with pairs of winged cupids, the case with a domed caddy top surmounted with three gilt ball finials, the convex moulded cornice with two pierced foliate fretwork friezes above the dial, flanked by ebonised Doric columns, the trunk with a rectangular door fitted with a brass mounted oval lenticle, on a square moulded plinth base, inlaid throughout with fine marquetry depicting birds, sprays of flowers and cherubs, with a twin train movement
