in silk on fine linen, with a top border of flowers in urns and vases, above a repeating geometric daisy border, the centre scene with a garden filled with flowers, vines, birds and insects, the main figure of a woman smelling a rose with a small spotted dog, flanked by a peacock and a deer on stumpwork grassy knolls, the corners with a crowned thistle and rose, signed to the top edge of the scene ‘Barbara Dalziel 1750’, all within a berry border, in an ebonised fruitwood frame
