Description
the silvered Gothic arch dial with Roman numerals, engraved foliate spandrels, the arch with subsidiary ‘Chime/Silent’ and ‘Chime on 8 Bells/Cambridge Chimes’ dials, the large architectural case surmounted with three carved pointed finials united by crenulation, the front door with a carved acanthus pediment flanked by a pair of free bound quatrefoil columns, the sides with pierced foliate fretwork panels, on a breakfront canted corner plinth base decorated with a cloister frieze of recessed Gothic arches set on bracket feet, the triple train chain fusee movement striking the full hour to a large coiled blued steel gong and chiming the quarters to a pin wheel activated nest of eight bells; together with a matching walnut wall mounted bracket, the support carved in the form of a shield with acanthus moulding (2)
