Note: A similar sauce boat to the basket weave example in this lot is illustrated in Edwards and Hampson ‘White Salt-Glazed Stoneware of the British Isles’, p.87, fig 75. Along with his brother Ralph Wood they are traditionally credited as the major modellers of saltglaze pottery shapes.
