decorated in the ‘Hop and Trellis’ pattern, the teapot of barrel, fluted form, with an ear-shaped handle, the stand of hexagonal form with scalloped rim, all enamelled in purple, green, red and turquoise, with gilt highlights, gold crescent mark (2)

Note: The influence of Sevres in the mid 1760s led to the production of decorative patterns in the French style. Despite the name, the Hop and Trellis pattern, depicting garlands of green leaves dotted with red berries, was not intended to represent hops.
