Description
the 11 inch brass dial with silvered chapter with Roman numerals and Arabic five minute markers, subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, pierced gilt spandrels, signed on a silvered roundel to the arch ‘Robert Coats, Hamilton’ flanked by pierced dolphins, the hood with broken swan neck pediment, pierced lattice panels, rosette roundels surmounted by a three gilt urn finials, the dial flanked by free fluted Doric columns and pierced fret panels to the sides, the case with a Chinoiserie fretwork frieze above a shaped arch trunk door flanked by ebonised fluted quarter columns with gilt bronze Corinthian capitals, on a moulded panel base with ogee bracket feet, the twin train movement striking a bell
