Description
painted panel mounted in an embossed and a chased silver oklad with cloisonné halo, within a raised border with enamel strapwork, the oklad struck to the lower edge of the frame with makers mark in Cyrillic, the double headed eagle mark of the Imperial Court silversmith cypher and a Moscow assay mark dated 1893 for assayer Anatoliì Apollonovich Artsybashev, with a brown velvet backing

Provenance
Provenance: Private Collection, Perthshire, Scotland. Purchased by the current vendors grandparents, who were extensive travellers, circa 1920 – 1930. Their granddaughter believes that the icon could have been purchased on either a trip to Italy or in Montreal, Canada, where they lived. The icon has remained in the family collection since that time for nearly a century.
