Note: Foyatier entered the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1817. In 1819 he exhibited his first pieces and, aged 26, was awarded a scholarship for the French Academy in Rome. There he created his most famous work Spartacus, which was sealed by Royal commission for the work to be executed in marble in 1828.
