Note: The Gibside estate is located south of Newcastle and was the home of the Bowes-Lyon family. It includes the ruins of Gibside Hall, the 18th century home of Mary Eleanor Bowes, Countess of Strathmore, and was famed for its Georgian landscape garden. It is now in the care of the National Trust.
