oval, painted in watercolour and body on ivory, the sitter a young lady with grey loosely curled hair and white bandeau, wearing a white chemise dress, the reverse with a lock of hair set as a wheat sheaf with gold thread, with a blue enamel reserve mounted with seed pearls and monogram 'WDC', on an opalescent enamel ground, in an unmarked yellow metal pendant frame with suspension loop
