Description
the gilt bronze embossed dial with white and blue enamel plaques with Roman numerals and Arabic second markers to the outer edge, with a foliate mask centre above an allegorical mount with muses and their attributes below, in a straight sided boulle marquetry case with concave sided cornice with a pierced frieze, acanthus corner mounts, and flame finials, the angles applied with female herms, the outscrolled base raised on foliate cast feet, the front and sides enriched with brass foliate scrolls, the later twin train brass movement signed 'Japy Freres & Cie' with gilt mask pendulum striking to a door mounted bell, together with an associated ogee bracket of a similar period with gilt bronze mask corner mounts and foliate scroll contre-partie boulle panels terminating in a foliate pendant finial
