the arched gilt dial with a silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals and Arabic five minute markers, with pierced gilt spandrels and subsidiary slow/fast dial, the architectural case with a caddy top with three turned finials, above a breakarch door flanked by columns and pierced scrolling side panels, on a moulded plinth raised on turned feet, the three-train brass movement striking the quarters on two coiled steel gongs activated by a pin wheel and also striking the full hour, with a string pull repeat to one side, the backplate stamped 'W. &amp; H, Sch' for Winterhalder &amp; Hofmeier, Schwaerzenbach
