Footnote
Note: Charles was married to Clementina Fleming, cousin to the Duke of Perth, active in the '45, and closely related to George Keith, Earl Marischal, and his brother, both of whom were 'out' in the '15 and actively involved in background support for the 1745-46 campaign, and in the final actions of the Jacobite cause in the early 1750s. The fact that Charles' wife was named Clementina is indicative of those sympathies with the Jacobite cause. Many girls born into Jacobite families were named Clementina after Clementina Sobieska, wife of the Old Pretender.
