the 7 inch arched gilt dial with a silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals and Arabic five minute markers, signed 'Aird & Thomson, Glasgow', with pierced gilt spandrels and subsidiary dials for strike/silent and slow/fast, in an arch pediment case inlaid with neoclassical satinwood and bone marquetry and pierced fretwork side panels, on a moulded plinth raised on bracket feet, the three-train chain fusée brass movement chiming the quarters on four coiled steel gongs activated by a pin wheel playing the Westminster chimes and the hours on a large coiled steel gong; bearing a white metal engraved presentation plaque
