Note: Hajji Mollah Mohammed Hassan Mohtasham is generally regarded as probably the best of the master weavers who helped re-establish Kashan as an important weaving centre at the end of the 19th century. Few are signed, but the soft kurk lamb's wool, pale blue wefts, magenta silk selvages and distinctive, more geometric, drawing style in subtle colours are typical characteristics of the high quality productions of his workshop.
