Footnote
Note: French born Charles Mellier began his career at the London Anglo-French cabinetmakers Monbro and Company, eventually taking over the business in 1868. He changed the name to C. Mellier & Co. and oversaw it becoming one of the most renowned British cabinetmaking firms of the late 19th century. Working from Frith Street and later 60 Margaret Street, the company furnished numerous prestigious addresses such as 14, 27, and 45 Grosvenor Square in London, Farmleigh House and Estate in Dublin, as well as the great cross-Atlantic liner Mauretania. In 1904 they were perhaps the foremost English furniture exhibitor at the International Exhibition in St Louis.
