Literature:Julian Spalding in his introduction to the Third Eye Centre exhibition concludes his appraisal of Currie's work to date :" The keenness of observation combined with technical skill is the foundation of Currie's achievement to date. But he pushes beyond this towards a symbolic statement which does not sacrifice the actual in it's aim for the general. This ambition enanbles him to depict not just what the city (Glasgow) looks like from a (safe) distance but what it means to live in as well. In his portrait of a city, people loom largest. At a stroke he has made realist painting suddenly and obviously relevant again."
