Note: The present painting was a gift from the artist to the present owner. They were introduced by Captain Shaun Feehan, a 'fantastic character' and important Cork book publisher. The present vendor had recently bought the painting The Holy Well by William Orpen and because Keating admired the artist greatly, he visited the vendor's home to view it.
Also hanging in the same room was an oil of a lady ironing and looking out through the window by Keating himself. The artist was astonished to see the canvas and cried out 'Tuesday Morning' and then explained that this was a painting of his wife, who always did the ironing on Tuesdays when 'she would have much rather been outside playing in the daisies' Some time later, Keating presented the owner with the present painting, a version of her own 'Tuesday Morning', wishing her to have both.
