Note:Maggie Hamilton was an embroiderer of note as well as a painter in oils and watercolour. She married Alexander Nisbet Paterson the distinguished architect and painter who is described by Gomme & Walker in 'Architecture in Scotland' 1987, as "A fastidious , comfortably off and retiring architect, whose best work is too little known". The painting dates from1892.
