Description
S Garrard, London 1903 and 1904, the salver of circular form, the border with Art Nouveau style ribbons and six panels of winged messengers with cups, fruit and grapes in their hands, the centre engraved with the Royal Arms and engraved inscription " Presented by His Britannic Majesty's Government To Rear Admiral Charles Henry Davis in Recognition of his Services on the International Commission of Enquiry at Paris January 1905" the cover of circular form with palmette border and a seated mermaid figure tending her long hair and using a scallop shell as a mirror, the cup of slender form with four principal panels depicting North, South East and West as pre-raphealite ladies, dolphin handles, knopped stem and a spreading base with dolphins
