Note:
Van Cleef & Arpels, was established in 1906, by Alfred Van Cleef and two of his brothers-in-law, Charles and Julien Arpels. Their first salon was opened at the Place Vendôme in Paris where the youngest Arpels brother, Louis, joined them in 1912. Successful from the onset, the family firm rapidly expanded both within France and abroad. In 1933, the firm famously introduced a revolutionary invisible method of setting, whereby gems are mounted without any visible signs of the setting as seen to the stem of this floral brooch.
