Note: Born in 1845, William Cary Edgecomb lived in Mystic, Connecticut, where he taught astronomy and spent much of his time in his observatory. Edgecomb was a skilled scientific instrument maker and was largely known for manufacturing high quality binocular telescopes, despite their rarity.
