Note: By repute this torpedo compass was salvaged from the wreck of the Bismarck-class German warship 'Tirpitz'. The ship was sunk in 1944 and remained on the seabed near the Norwegian island Håkøya until after the war. From 1948-1957 a joint German-Norwegian company completed salvage operations.
