the domed top with a carved coat of arms, ribbons and thistles, supported by fluted columns flanking a gilt dial with silvered Roman number chapter ring and subsidiary dials, signed SEARLE & CO., 78 LOMBARD ST. LONDON, the repeating movement striking on eight bells and five gongs, with Whittington and Westminster chimes, the plinth base with plaque PRESENTED BY W. B. ROSS COLLINS/ CHAIRMAN OF COUNCIL/ 1960
