Footnote
Note: R. W. Winfield & Co. were well known during the 19th century for their production of metal bedsteads, rocking chairs, gas lights and fittings. They exhibited at both the Great Exhibition of 1851, and again at the International Exhibition of 1862. At the former, they were one of 170 exhibitors awarded the council or first class medal for "superior excellence in general brass foundry, metallic bedsteads, and gas fittings." The design registry at Kew holds the design and illustration for these lamps confirming that they were produced by Winfield and registered in the summer of 1866.
