Footnote
Note: Joshua Wilkinson established a cabinet, upholstery, carpet and looking-glass warehouse in 1766 in Moorfields. By 1790 the firm was being run by his second son, William, in partnership with his cousin Thomas Wilkinson. Their partnership ended in 1808 when William left to take over the old established firm of Quentin Kaye at 14 Ludgate Hill. The company produced well-made pieces conforming to fashionable Regency design types and marked their furniture, usually with the impressed stamp `WILKINSON LUDGATE HILL'. From 1825 William was joined by his two sons, Williams Ascough and Charles, changing the name, and stamp, to Wilkinson & Sons, 14 Ludgate Hill. The firm continued to trade, under different names into the 20th century.
