Note: The Callow of Mount Street firm was originally founded in 1841 by Thomas Callow. The name went through a number of variations, changing to Thomas Callow & Son in 1852 and Oscar Callow in 1925, but consistently used its smart Mayfair address as an identifier. The firm appears to have made and sold a variety of objects, but specialised particularly in small silverware objects and riding equipment. They are listed in Charles Dickens Junior's 1879 'Directory of London' as the official Royal whipmakers.
Provenance: Farley Hall, Surrey
