the four pillar twin fusee bell striking movement with fine foliate scroll engraved backplate, the 7 inch brass dial with STRIKE/SILENT selection dial, calendar aperture and shaped signature plate engraved JAMES CHATER/ LONDON, within applied silvered Roman numeral chapter ring, within an inverted bell-top case, with red japanned finish painted in gilt, with brass carrying handle above front door with raised mouldings, the sides with circular over concave-topped rectangular glazed apertures, on moulded base with bracket feet
