Note: Robert Strahan & Company were founded in 1776, operating from Chancery Lane in Dublin. The success of the company during the following decades resulted in two new workshops opening in 1815 and again later in 1845. Strahan displayed work at Dublin's great industrial exhibition of 1853 and produced furniture for some of Ireland's greatest country houses, including Doneraile Court, Co. Cork and Lisnavagh House, Co. Carlow. Their designs tended to be fairly understated during the earlier years, but focused on the more ornate in the 19th century, as was popular during the Victorian period. They continued to trade under the family name until 1969.
