of tapered form, with carved triple reeded tops over spiral carved sides, each with a carved square panel depicting an antelope, the reverse carved with a stag, with twin brass bands and shell cast handles to the sides (2)

NOTE:
According to family history, these peat buckets, carved with Carew and Boyse family crests, were a gift to commemorate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the marriage of Frances Boyse Carew to Robert Thomas Carew (1747-1834) of Ballinamona, County Waterford, Ireland. Robert Carew served as M.P. for Dungarvan from 1769-1776, and held the office of High Sheriff of County Waterford in 1779. These buckets remained in the family until the 1990s when they came into the possession of the current owner.
