Footnote
Note: The Aepyornis, otherwise known as the Elephant Bird, was a flightless bird that lived in Madagascar until its extinction in the 17th century. It was likely to have been the heaviest bird to have existed, and grew to over 11 feet tall. Its eggs are sixty times larger than a domestic hen's egg.
