Description
worked in silk on linen, with a two column verse titled 'LINES ON THE DEATH OF MY DEAR MOTHER WHO DIED JANUARY 16TH 1832', above an apple tree with peacocks, flowers, and further songbirds, inscribed 'TAMAR TAYLOR RILEY / WORK', in a wide scrolling flower border, glazed and framed; together with an ENGLISH NEEDLEWORK HOUSE SAMPLER, by Mary Copley, aged 13 and dated 1821, worked in silk and wool with a verse above a red house flanked by footmen, the ground filled with flowers, birds, baskets, a crown and trees and 'Noah's Ark' in two places, glazed and framed, 56cm high, 53cm wide; and a VICTORIAN MEMORIAL SAMPLER, by Mary Dearden, aged 66 and dated 1874, worked in wool with a two column verse centred by a mounted photograph of the maker, above a flower-fille bowl flanked by baskets and birds and flowers, above a field filed with animals and a shepherd and shepherdess, within a strawberry vine border, glazed and framed, 49cm high, 46cm wide (3)
