Footnote
A comparable cream-ground Canton silk embroidered ‘hundred birds’ panel, Qing dynasty, is in the Palace Museum, Beijing, museum number: Xin 新180040. Also compare to one of the large pair of embroidered silk ‘hundred birds’ panels, Qing dynasty, 19th century, similarly depicted with peacock in full bloom underneath a tree opposite a pair of crossed pheasants, on cream ground, sold at Christie's Paris, 23 Jun 2020, lot 78.
