Footnote
It is comparably rare to find cat motifs in Chinese porcelain. Two famille verte plates, each decorated with a seated lady in an interior playing with a kitten, dated to Kangxi period, ca. 1690, were sold at Christie's New York, 23 Jan 2019, lot 637. Another wucai ‘lady and cat’ dish, also dated to the Kangxi period, was in the collection of Sam and Myrna Myers in France, sold at Sotheby's Paris, 16 June 2022, lot 180.
