Footnote
According to Chinese export silver expert Adrien Von Ferscht's kind comment via email correspondence, 'Wu Hua' also operated in Tianjin where there was a significant Japanese sector and there was a Japanese Embassy in the Foreign Legation area of Beijing at this time. In particular, with items of Chinese silver using the traditional repoussé iris motif, it is not uncommon to find items that look Japanese in style.
