A Private Scottish Collection
The following 22 lots were collected by a Scottish businessman whilst working in Hong Kong in the 1950s and 60s. A number of these pieces may have been gifts from prominent families or heads of business. The collection of reverse paintings, in original hardwood or lacquered frames, show an interesting variety of subjects, some being European in taste, rather than purely Asian. The large painting of a young woman dressed as a shepherdess was reframed in a Chippendale pattern frame whilst in Hong Kong to match the interior decoration when the family moved back to their Scottish home.
