Note: The inscription relates to Si Ma Guang (ca. 145 or 135BC - 86BC), a Prefect of the Grand Scribes of the Han Dynasty. His work, 'Records of the Grand Historian', a general history of China covering more than two thousand years, is considered the first official history of China and laid the foundation for later historiography.
The poem reads 'In form days Si Ma Guang went travelling to famous mountains and great rivers/ After that complied the Historical Records/ First he travelled to the famous mountains and great rivers for ten years/ His work then evolved from his heart and mind/ Interest increases after travelling'.
