Footnote
Note: This ovoid jar is of a well-known form and produced from Kangxi to Daoguang period for storing tea leaves, occasionally referred to as a yueyaer guan ('jar with crescent moon handles') due to the form of its mock-handles. A very similar example, with Qinanlong mark and of the period, was in the Qing Court collection and is in the National Palace Museum, Taipei, museum no. Gu Ci故瓷11265. Another example was illustrated by R. Krahl in Chinese Ceramics in the Meiyintang Collection, vol. II, London, 1994, p. 211, no. 866. A further comparable example with Daoguang mark was sold at Sotheby's New York, 21 September 2021, lot 143.
