Note: A closely comparable famille rose 'nine lions playing ball' snuff bottle, dated to the Jiaqing period (1796-1820), is in the collection of the Victora & Albert Museum, accession number 'C.1698-1910'. Some similar examples to the cinnabar-ground famille rose porcelain 'dragon and phoenix' snuff bottle, which appears to be from the same mould but with a different colour scheme, are all dated to the Jiaqing period, including one from the Mary and George Bloch Collection, sold at Bonham's Hong Kong, 27 May 2012, lot 98.
