first edition deluxe bound in hardback, printed in China by Kelly & Walsh Ltd., The China Publishing Company, 1937, Shanghai, printed on specially-prepared Chinese handmade paper made from bamboo fibre, the silk cover with Chinese titles in the Generalissimo- Chiang Kai-Shek's own calligraphy, signed by the author 'Mayling Soong Chiang' in black followed by her four-character seal in red, also featuring a chapter with historical extracts taken from Chiang Kai-Shek's diary
