each with shaped top rail above vase splat painted with ribbon tied husk swags framing coat of arms of Graham of Gartmore, flanked by four turned supports, outscrolled ash arms with further turned supports and saddle seat, on splayed turned legs joined by H-stretcher; the splats badly wormed (4)

Provenance: Robert Cunninghame-Graham of Gartmore; thence by descent.
The arms are those of Graham quartering Stewart, of the extinct baronetcy of Graham of Gartmore (cr. 1665). The family had a standing claim to the dormant Earldom of Menteith but it has was never successfully acknowledged by the House of Lords.
Robert Cunninghame-Graham (1852-1936) was a celebrated radical politician, Scottish nationalist, travel writer and essayist. He was a close friend of James Keir Hardie and a co-founder of the Scottish Home Rule Association, forerunner of the Scottish National Party.
