with rustic gilt decorated spout and handle, painted in rouge de fer with opposed European scenes of lovers in a woodland bower, looked over by a winged putti holding a torch in one hand and a garland in the other (2)

The scene depicts a reproduction of an engraving by Le Mare after Eisen illustrating Zelis in the Bath, a poem by Masson de Pargay, published in 1763 - a number exist without the cherub
